Brand and Perry first met at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009 and just 3 months later Brand proposed outside the Taj Mahal.
Only close family and friends were allowed to attend the event which was surrounded by heavy security and press were not allowed to enter. According to The Press Trust of India the wedding procession comprised of 21 camels, elephants and horses as well as dancers and musicians.
Perry called for privacy on her twitter "Greatest gift you can give us is respect and love during this private time. No use wasting our time with STOLEN or FALSE info. Thank you for this."
Brand has enjoyed a higher profile since he embarked on a Hollywood acting career staring in the 2007 St Trinian's film and Judd Apatow's comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
Perry released I Kissed A Girl in 2008 which quickly became her biggest hit and her most recent album is Teenage Dream.
